Volunteering at Logan Hospital

Working in partnership with the community can improve and enhance the services Logan Hospital provides and positively influence the patient and carer experience. Volunteering at the Logan Hospital provides the opportunity to support both the hospital and the community in continuing Logan Hospital's journey to excellence in person centred care, and to provide much needed support while the hospital is undergoing capital works.

Logan Hospital is about to launch the Community Advisor Program which aims to expand existing volunteer services and highlight Logan Hospital's committment to engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities as partners in the planning, delivery, evaluation and governance of person centred health care.

For more information on the program and to register your interest click here to view the Expression of interest and Role Description.

The following information is for all other existing Logan Hospital volunteer programs.

Volunteer programs

Auxiliary

The Logan Hospital Auxiliary is a dedicated group of volunteers who provide:

  • Meet and greet—assisting patients and visitors to find their way.
  • Craft shop—items for purchase such as knitted articles, books and crafts. Money raised at the craft shop is donated to the hospital for the purchase of equipment for patients.

Radio Lollipop

Radio Lollipop is an international children’s charity and provides care, comfort, play and entertainment to sick children and their families in hospital. It operates an in-house radio station and involves the children in fun play activities throughout the wards.

Radio Lollipop works in the Children’s Ward, Tuesdays from 5pm-8pm or Saturday 9am-12 noon.

Chaplaincy service

The Ecumenical Ward Chaplaincy Service provides care for the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, their families and friends, and staff.  Chaplains provide a willing ear and their approach is one offered in friendship and with a non-judgemental attitude.

Chaplains are volunteers trained as pastoral care providers who offer their services free of charge. Chaplains are available and in the hospital from Monday to Saturday and can be contacted by pagers 0699 and 0761 or by leaving a message on 3299 8970.
