PAH Radiation serviceThe Radiation Oncology Centre at the Princess Alexandra Hospital is one of Queensland's most acclaimed public cancer treatment facilities.

The hospital’s radiation therapy services extend across two campuses (Ipswich Road Woolloongabba and Raymond Terrace, South Brisbane), employing 18 radiation oncology specialist doctors and over 100 technical, allied health and administrative personnel.

Our organisation prides itself on:

The Gamma Knife Centre of Queensland, which is dedicated to treating complex neurological conditions, is co-located within the Radiation Oncology Centre, Ipswich Road.

We also provide specialist Radiation Oncology services for children at our Raymond Terrace Campus.

Using this technology our expert team design all treatment plans on-site and deliver an array of advanced radiation therapy techniques tailored to manage individual oncology conditions. All radiation therapy plans and techniques are subject to the highest level of quality assurance monitoring.

Radiation Treatment Technology (Raymond Terrace Campus)

Situated in the Mater Hospital precinct, Brisbane, our Raymond Terrace Campus is equipped with a range of modern oncology systems that include:

  • 2 wide bore CT scanning suites exclusively designed for radiation therapy planning.
  • A high performance computer network running (Pinnacle™) software for designing radiation dosimetry on-site.
  • 4 (VarianTM Linear Accelerator) radiation treatment machines capable of administering the latest radiation therapy techniques.
  • 2 integrated Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) units (Varian™ RPM) used for minimising radiation exposure to the heart in patients receiving radiation therapy for breast cancer.
  • 1 CalypsoTM guidance system used to provide real time treatment tracking in patients receiving radiation therapy for prostate cancer.

Radiation Therapy - Allied Health Services

Radiation Oncology PAHThe Radiation Oncology Department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital has an established and comprehensive radiation therapy program that is integrated with a range of Allied Health services.

Patients receiving treatment at our centre are supported by a large group of Allied Health professionals that include:

  • Oncology Nurses
  • Physiotherapists
  • Dietitians
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Speech Pathologists
  • Social Workers

This holistic approach to oncology care sets our service apart by ensuring the physical, psychological and nutritional well-being of patients during their treatment.

Parking facilities

Free on-site under cover parking adjacent to the centre is available for patients receiving radiation treatment. Access to the cancer services car park requires a security code and permit. This can be obtained prior to treatment from our reception. If this car park is full, paid parking is available within the hospital grounds or in commercial car parks on Ipswich Road.

Parking facilities

For patients receiving radiation treatment free under cover parking close to the centre is available at the Mater Hancock Street car park. Please note parking fees do apply for all Radiation Oncology Ramond Terrace Campus mapother non treatment appointments.
