Notifying relevant bodies for closure

Researchers must complete the OMF1 HREC/RGO Annual Progress Report/Final Report MSH/BDHP (PDF, 845.57 KB) and submit to the Metro South Health Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) Office and Metro South Health Research Governance Office for all research projects which are ethically and scientifically approved and authorised to occur within a Metro South Health facility at the conclusion of the research project.

All completed OMF1 HREC/RGO Annual Progress Report/Final Report MSH/BDHP (PDF, 845.57 KB) must be emailed to the Metro South Health Research Ethics and Governance Post Approval Reporting email address on or before closure date.

Metro South Health Research Support Scheme (RSS)

At the conclusion of the Metro South Health Research Support Scheme (RSS) fund period or completion of the research project or termination of the research fund for any other reason, the Principal Investigator (PI) and/or research fund recipient must complete the required Final Report Template and forward to the Metro South Health Research Grants Administration Officer via email by the due date.

External research grants

Progress and final reports are required by most funding bodies as part of the conditions of the research grant/award. Continued funding of the research project and the eligibility to compete for future funding is often reliant on their completion.

Clinicians and researchers are encouraged to contact the coordinating body for the research grant for more information.

Research budgets and cost centres

At the conclusion of a research project all surplus funds, including those managed via the General Trust Fund or the Health Service Operating Funds, will be retained intact by the Metro South Health with one exception:

  1. The business rules specifically state that in certain cases in which the conditions of the research project sponsor pre-determines that any excess funds be returned to them, this condition will apply.

Following discussions between the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Business/Finance Manager and/or Cost Centre Manager funds retained by the Metro South Health will be allocated for that financial year within the department/division of the individual Principal Investigator (PI) to be used for the following purposes:

  • Further research; or
  • Training and development of research staff (additional to require training); or
  • Publication or presentation of the research results; or
  • Other research purposes agreed to by the Principal Investigator (PI) and Business/Finance Manager and/or Cost Centre Manager.
