What is research integrity?

We’re committed to the highest standards of integrity for research done in our hospitals and health services. Our research is done responsibly and ethically, leading to better treatment outcomes and the best care we can offer.

Any research done by a Metro South Health facility or service by our researchers, complies with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research 2018.

Research integrity policies and procedures

We use the following documents to guide research in our hospital and health service.

Metro South Health

National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)

Research integrity training

Research integrity training is mandatory for all researchers undertaking research in Metro South Health.

You can do the 3 online training courses through MSHLearn. Each one takes about 25 minutes.

  1. Research integrity – concepts
  2. Research integrity – probity and bias
  3. Research integrity – breaches of the code

External members of research teams (i.e. non-MSH employees) must provide evidence (e.g. certificate or training transcript) of research integrity training from their employing Hospital and Health Service, University or Institution or external provider.

External researchers who wish to complete Metro South Health's research integrity modules can email MSH-Research@health.qld.gov.au

Research integrity advisors

Research Integrity Advisors (RIAs) are Metro South Health employees who are experienced in research with a thorough knowledge of research practices and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.

Our RIAs advise staff and research teams on responsible and ethical research. They're your first point of contact for any questions about research conduct or concerns about research integrity.

All our advisors get support and training. If you're interested in becoming an advisor, please fill in the MSH research integrity advisor EOI form.
