Health alert: Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are experiencing an increased number of people presenting to our Emergency Departments for treatment of COVID-19. A number of our staff are also impacted by COVID-19, and as a result we are experiencing longer-than-usual emergency department waiting times. Metro South Health will continue to treat the most urgent cases first (Category 1). Please do not attend the emergency department unless it is an emergency. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we prioritise our most urgent cases.

Fully vaccinated visitors may attend our facilities. Please refer to the visitor restrictions for more information.

Name the crane!

Primary school kids throughout the region have risen to the challenge of naming the 37-metre high crane that’s building Redland Hospital’s new multi-level car park.

Five finalists have been chosen from 20 entries received in the hospital’s ‘Name the Crane’ competition, which launched last month.

The Redlands Coast community and hospital staff are now invited to vote for their favourite name on the Metro South Health Facebook page.

The winning name will be displayed on the crane until 2022 as construction work continues on the car park.

The finalists are:

  1. Big Red: Shane - Grade 4, Redland Bay State School
  2. Carrie: Bridie – Grade 4, Dunwich State School
  3. Cornelius: Oliver – Grade 2, Ormiston State School
  4. Big Friendly Crane (The BFC): Cooper – Grade 3, Mount Cotton School
  5. Cranky: Cooper – Prep, Cleveland

Voting closes at midnight on Friday 26 November 2021.
