Planning and design is underway for the expansion and refurbishment of some key spaces within QEII Hospital. This expansion will enhance our clinical services, improve functionality of existing facilities and make the environment more contemporary and comfortable for patients, visitors, and staff.
What we're planning
These maintenance and improvement projects include:
- Lift modernisation
- Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning replacement (HVAC)
- Mechanical Services Switch Board (MSSB) and exhaust fan replacement
- Chiller Unit replacement
These works are part of planned maintenance and required infrastructure upgrades.
Benefits
Many of these projects are required to address aging infrastructure or provide necessary upgrades to make the hospital more functional and accessible for the local community.
Additionally, these improvements are designed to make QEII Hospital more comfortable and more contemporary for our community.
What to expect
Internal works will not significantly impact services to the public at QEII. Where access points are affected, signage and alternative routes will be in place. Delays to any services during transition will have arrangements in place to reduce impact on service delivery.
What else is QEII Hospital planning
These additional improvement projects will expand the capacity to deliver services:
- Pharmacy and Pathology Expansion
- Medical Records relocation
The Pharmacy expansion is necessary to ensure PBS medications are available to patients which will be the first time QEII Hospital can deliver this benefit for patients.
