PAH Past and Present Nurses Association

Historical image of PAH nursesThe Past and Present Nurses Association (PPNA) was founded in November 1967 by the then Matron of PAH, Doris Broomfield.

The PPNA is open to any past or present Registered or Enrolled nurse who has been or is employed at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Our objectives are to:

  • foster friendship and fellowship between past and present nurses of the PAH
  • maintain interest in the continuation and growth of the PAH
  • engage in social and fundraising activities
  • support nursing education.

Our fundraising provides for many requests from within the hospital—including funding for conferences and education for nursing staff, equipment for patients, and facilities for relatives.

The committee receives and consideres many requests each year and are very proud of the assistance given to staff, patients and relatives of the hospital over many years.  Our first fundraising project was to raise funds for the first hospital chapel on the PAH site so our assistance to various projects goes back over 40 years.

Events

Our main event each year is our annual reunion lunch and Annual General Meeting that is held in November. During August, the membership secretary will send out invitations to current members of the association.

Membership

Membership to the association is open to all past and present nursing staff of the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The fee is $10.00 per year or life membership for $30.
