Safety, security and personal property

Emergency procedures

Our staff are trained to respond to emergency situations and will tell you what to do if there is a fire or another alarm. When you first arrive in your ward, please look on the ward evacuation plan for your fire exit route. If you are unsure of the route you have to take, please ask ward staff.

Patient identification

When you are admitted to hospital, a bracelet identification band will be put on your wrist or ankle. Please check that the details on the band are correct and wear it at all times while you are in hospital.

Throughout your hospital stay you will be asked many times about your identification details. This is an important part of ensuring we are providing you with the correct medications and treatments. Please feel free to remind staff to check your identification before you receive any medication or treatment.

Personal property

Please do not bring large sums of money and other valuable items, such as mobile phones, laptop computers, electronic tablets, jewellery or items of sentimental value. Unfortunately we cannot take responsibility for personal property and valuables brought into the hospital.
