Meals

We serve meals to patients three times a day, plus morning tea, afternoon tea and supper.

Most patients can select from a range of choices for each meal by marking a menu card. Our Nutrition Assistants visit the bedside each day to help complete your order. We will also supply special diets where this is part of your medical care or cultural and religious needs. We are expanding our menu options based on patient feedback, particularly for our culturally diverse patient groups.

If you are having an operation you may not be able to eat or drink for several hours. Your ward staff will tell you how long you must fast before the operation. It is important you comply with these directions.

To help with meal delivery, please try to keep your bed table clear at meal times and place flowers on your bedside locker. Please let the staff know if you need assistance to eat as nutrition is important to your recovery.

If you have your own food or visitors bring your food items, please check with nursing staff that these foods will not interfere with your treatment. All food must be kept in airtight containers.
