PAH Jan Kitchener Living our Values Everyday (LOVE) Award 2023

Aim

The aim of this award is to recognise the contributions of a PAH nurse or nursing team whose practice is highly evident of the values of the Professional Practice Model and Person Centred Care showing continuous commitment to making a positive difference in patients’, family and carers’ journey through PAH.

Eligibility

To be eligible the applicant:

Criteria

  1. List the nurse/team member’s names, work area and position. (Not included in the word count)
  2. Submit a maximum of 350 words; 50 words per PPM value/core component which addresses the following question:
    • Describe how the nurse/nursing team demonstrates the values of the PPM through one or more of the core components below to enable the provision of Person Centred Care.

Nomination process

Nurses/nursing teams are to be nominated by colleagues. Please nominate by completing the online nomination form below. The Centre of Nursing Excellence (CNE) is accountable for coordinating this award.

Decision making governance process

Nominations will be judged by a panel that consists of nursing executive; interprofessional colleague; adjunct/joint appointment and a consumer representative from the PAH Consumer Consultative Committee. Each member will have equal voting rights, although in the event of a conflict of interest (i.e.: nominee is from respective work unit) these rights will be rescinded.

Following review of the applicants, the panel will declare any conflicts of interest prior to the voting process taking place. The panel will utilise a Likert scale from ‘Strongly Agree that Applicant Meets Criteria to Strongly Disagree that Applicants Meet Criteria’ to assist determine the top 5 nominations and recommend a winner of the award. The top 3 nominations and recommended winner will be tabled at the Nursing Executive Committee (NEC). The NEC will make the final decision. The top 3 nominations will be notified and invited to the award presentation for the announcement of the award winner.

Please note: The bursary will be equally shared amongst the recipients where a nursing team is the award winner.

Reward and Recognition

  • $500 bursary sponsored by Scott Kitchener in memory of his mother Jan Kitchener (former Nurse Educator at PAH).
  • A Certificate of Recognition will be presented on International Nurses Day to each nurses/nursing team member.
  • Photo and award details included within the EDNS Newsletter and PAH Nursing Services Annual Review.
