Special Care babies cuddle up in new twin cot

20 April 2017

Special Care Nursery is celebrating a new look and the arrival of a brand new custom designed cot for its tiniest twin patients.

The Hunt twins born on March 18 were the first  to test out the new cot, purchased with a grant generously donated by Woolworths.

SCN Nurse Unit Manager Katharine Lawlor said staff were extremely happy to finally have the new cot which complied with SIDS recommendations for safe sleeping.

Katharine said she wanted to thank Dr Jan Cullen for helping deliver the cot to the SCN and for her support of family focussed development the unit where babies always come first.

“The cot was purpose built for us with a separate firm mattress for each twin which facilitates safe sleeping when their mother is not in attendance, while still keeping the twins together.”
