Logan Hospital staff had the chance to be part of history last month by signing the final steel beam to be installed in the major Expansion Project.
The $460 million Expansion Project will deliver an additional 206 beds and treatment spaces, four new floors and building-in of the open-air ground floor of Building 3, home to the Emergency Department and the refurbishment of existing clinical and support areas in other buildings.
The Expansion Project is the centrepiece of a major infrastructure investment by the Queensland Government, which also includes the new multi-level car park and a refurbished and expanded Logan Maternity.
New and refurbished services across the hospital will continue to open to patients as they are completed between 2023 and 2028.
The signed beam has now been craned into place, marking the “topping out” of the new levels on top of the existing Building 3.
The fitting out of the new wards and services that will call this building home is now underway.
