PA Hospital Safety and Response officer, Robert Dickerson, is a shining light for members of the public attending our COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at a time when a huge surge in interest has made a security presence necessary at the queue.
Robert’s calm and happy demeaner has attracted a sea of compliments from staff and the community alike, recognising his friendly attitude has reduced anxiety for those in attendance to assist the efficiency of the clinic.
While he admits not all attendees have been well-behaved, Robert has been recognised for his friendly manner and upbeat personality assisting the community around the priority for bookings at the very busy clinic.
“We have a good team down here manning the clinic and our safety and response team do the best we can to support them,” he said.
“There has been some frustration, but I just put myself in their shoes; when things get a bit tense, that’s when I get extra friendly.”
Robert is also helping to manage the demand by assisting walk-ins to register and book online so when they receive a future confirmed appointment for their vaccination, they walk straight in.
“I love it all, but Safety and Response plays an important role at the vaccination clinic and I’m just pleased to do it with a smile,” he said.
Safety and Response is a very important job across PA Hospital every day with our officers called to assist in diverse clinical and social situations.
