Putting the final touches to Logan Hospital's new Emergency Department

2 October 2014

An army of Logan Hospital staff are making the final preparations to have the new Emergency Department ready to treat patients when the facility opens in less than two weeks.

Project Coordinator Sue MacPherson said the effort by staff in unloading the $6.5M in furniture, fittings and equipment has been nothing less than heroic.

“The new Emergency Department has about the same floor space as 25 average homes, so the task of installing all the necessary equipment and furniture has been like watching a super-sized home make over reality TV show,” Sue said.

“Staff from almost every area of the hospital helped out including nursing, pharmacy, allied health, environmental services, medical imaging, IT and telecommunications and administration.

“These people have performed an amazing number of jobs from making up 70 beds, installing 80 clinical monitors, placing 1500 items of furniture and stocking 20 pallet loads of medical consumables such as bandages, gloves and syringes.”

Join us for a sneak preview of the new Emergency Department on Saturday 4 October from 11am.

The preview day will include a BBQ, displays and free family entertainment.
