Person-centred care award suits Sue to a T

18 December 2020

PA Hospital Nurse Manager Quality & Resources Sue Schoonbeek is the recipient of the hospital’s 2020 Jan Kitchener Love Award for person-centred care.

Colleagues nominating Sue for the Award said her actions this year have demonstrated the seven person-centred care values of care, compassion, respect, integrity, professionalism, accountability and leadership.

“All the projects that Sue has been engaged in revolve around the patient, their families and their individual needs,” they said.

“Sue’s professionalism is demonstrated every day, not only within her work environment but what she does outside work. From her volunteer work, to being Director of the Cancer Nurse Society of Australia, to empowering and engaging with not only her professional group but all members of our multidisciplinary team and the health consumer, respect is the cornerstone to Sue's persona; she extends it to patients, their significant others, and the team at large."

Congratulations Sue!
