MGP marks a decade caring for local mums and bubs

17 July 2019

Logan Hospital's Midwifery Group Practice has celebrated it's 10th birthday and the part it has played in delivering hundreds of local babies.

MGP MUM Michelle O'Connor said it was hard to believe 10 years had already gone by.

"In that time we have offered this model of care to around 2500 women." she said.

"The model has seen some changes through the years at Logan, however continuity has remained and is now strengthened and growing."

Michelle said national research showed better health outcomes for women with this model, one that Metro South Health had committed to ensuring was sustained into the future.

"We now have a workforce of 18 soon to be 24 midwives who are committed to ensuring we bring continuity of care to the women and families of Logan well into the future.

"Here's to another 10 years of relationship based care for our women and families."
