Look Good Feel Better is celebrating 25years at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) having benefited close to 600 participants in the past 3 years alone.
The national community service program run by the Cancer Patients Foundation helps Australian men, women and teens with cancer look and feel their best through specialised monthly workshops addressing the common appearance-related side-effects that cancer treatment have.
Director of Nursing for Cancer Services, Leanne Stone, said the initiative has made a big difference to the lives of cancer patients receiving treatment at the PAH.
“We are really proud of our longstanding partnership with Look Good Feel Better here at PAH.
“We know how much of a difference initiatives such as this make to the lives of those on the cancer journey and actively encourage all of our patients to participate in the workshops,” she said.
Queensland and Northern Territory Look Good Feel Better Program Manager, Gordana Pilgrim, said she is excited by how well the staff and patients at PAH have embraced the workshops.
“Our workshops truly have a transformative effect on those undergoing cancer treatment, and without the collaboration and support of Princess Alexandra Hospital, we could not have helped as many patients as we have over the last 25 years.
“It’s a partnership we are truly grateful for and we look forward to many more years together, supporting those in the local community,” she said.
The program launched in Sydney in 1990 and was introduced at the PAH in 1995.
