Logan Hospital multi-level car park opens

16 February 2022

Easier and more secure parking has arrived at Logan Hospital, with the much-anticipated eight-level car park set to open on February 17.

The opening significantly boosts hospital parking capacity for patients, families and staff with 1506 undercover car parks and secure access directly into the main hospital building via an elevated linkway.

The car park has been a welcome architectural feature in Meadowbrook with the colourful façade featuring a Banksia tree designed in partnership with local artists and the Logan community.

The native tree motif represents the people of Logan from different cultures coming together as well as this hospital's role in nurturing people from birth to end of life.

The design aimed to reflected the diverse and unique Logan community, recognising the many different cultures coming together as a family and sharing the same journey through life.

As with all hospitals in South East Queensland, the opening of the car park signals the introduction of paid parking will commence at Logan Hospital.

The cost to park in the multi-level car park ranges from $3.00 for one hour, to a maximum daily rate capped at $13.00. It will always be free to drop off and pick up patients from the hospital by using one of the designated drop-off zones.

The car park is owned and operated by Logan Hospital, which means every dollar collected from parking rates will come back to the hospital to be used for capital repayments, operations, maintenance and improvements of the car park. The purpose of the car parking rates is cost recovery and the hospital will not be making a profit.

A concession program is in place to provide discounted parking for people who are experiencing financial hardship, who need to attend hospital frequently, who attend for an extended period of time, or who have special needs and require assistance.

Data analysis completed for the project showed 76 per cent of hospital patients and visitors park for two hours or less. That means most our visitors will pay $5.00 or less per visit.

The multi-level car park has been delivered ahead of the Logan Hospital Expansion, a major investment in healthcare services that will deliver an additional 206 beds and treatment spaces in the coming years.

Finishing touches including landscaping will continue over the coming weeks.
