Health alert: Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are experiencing an increased number of people presenting to our Emergency Departments for treatment of COVID-19. A number of our staff are also impacted by COVID-19, and as a result we are experiencing longer-than-usual emergency department waiting times. Metro South Health will continue to treat the most urgent cases first (Category 1). Please do not attend the emergency department unless it is an emergency. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we prioritise our most urgent cases.

Fully vaccinated visitors may attend our facilities. Please refer to the visitor restrictions for more information.

Logan Hospital a hive of activity as construction ramps up

14 December 2021

The Logan Hospital campus is a hive of activity with major construction activities occurring across the campus.

The $61.92 million multi-level car park project is nearing completion and will deliver more than 1500 undercover car park over eight levels.

A new elevated pedestrian bridge has been constructed which will provide an at-level, undercover connection between the car park and main hospital buildings. This will make it easier and more accessible, while providing safe access for patients and visitors coming to the hospital.

If you’re coming to the hospital, you’ll notice an upgrade at the main hospital entry, with new traffic lights now installed to assist with traffic flow in and out of the hospital campus.

Early works have also begun on the expansion project which includes excavation work around the perimeter of the hospital site.

Work will begin soon on four new floors that will be constructed on top of the existing Building 3, home to the Emergency Department. Additional upgrades will be made to the hospital’s kitchen and back-of-house services.

This project will deliver 206 additional beds and treatment spaces, including five new medical wards. It will also create more than 1000 construction jobs during construction.

The $18.875 million Logan Maternity upgrade is also well underway with the first phase, the new maternity inpatient unit, on track to open in early 2022.

This is an exciting time for Logan Hospital, as it expands into a larger healthcare centre for the growing Logan community.

We thank the Logan community for their patience and support during construction.
