Jeanette reaches goal to become Australian first

10 November 2017

Redland Hospital’s Jeanette Pickworth has become the first Enrolled Nurse in Australia to achieve credentialing from the Credentialing Organisation of Gastroenterology Nurses Ltd.

An advanced practice EN in endoscopy at Redland for the last 16 years, Jan said she had studied hard for the last 12 months to sit the exam in August.

"This is something that until recently has only been open to RNs," she said.

"I thought I was too old to study but it was something I wanted to do for my own professional development; a goal I wanted to achieve."

Jan said she hoped her success would be an inspiration to other ENs to set a goal, work hard and make it a reality.

She said she owed her success to the support of her husband and children and her colleagues at Redland Hospital where she has worked since 1988.

"I enjoy gastro so much and have learnt so much from our doctors.

"This won’t change what I do in the room but it was something I felt I wanted to do and now I will work towards recredentialing in three years’ time."
