A welcome donation for children at Beaudesert Hospital

8 March 2023

Children at Beaudesert Hospital now have a range of new sensory toys to play with thanks to the fundraising efforts of Palen Creek Correctional Centre.

The Correctional Centre worked with local education and nursing teams to determine the best way for the funds to be used, with staff deciding on toys for children recuperating or waiting in the emergency department.

Nursing and Midwifery Director and Facility Manager Jacqueline Smith said the sensory toys were sure to bring a lot of joy to the children.

“It is amazing to see the generosity from our community and it highlights the great partnerships we have between our health service and other government agencies,” she said.

As part of the Correctional Centre’s rehabilitation and reintegration back into the community program, prisoners also make tricycles from donated bicycle parts for third world countries.

A big thank you to everyone at Palen Creek Correctional Centre for the donation!
