The insights and perspectives of people with mental health experiences are vital to the way we deliver our services at Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Service (MSAMHS). We are committed to ensuring these voices are heard and valued in all aspects of the service.
People with mental health issues have improved outcomes in relation to housing, employment, income and overall health when they are supported by their communities. Consumers, their carers and families tell us that they feel more valued when they have opportunities to access housing, health services, meaningful activities/employment, and connection to others and their community, which are all important aspects of recovery and self-determination.
MSAMHS employs consumers and carers in a range of roles to as a way of offering hope and sharing knowledge with others to promote wellness and recovery.

MSAMHS host a quarterly Community Engagement Forum: an information sharing event where community stakeholders are invited to develop partnerships and deliver solutions to improve services for those who live on Brisbane’s Southside.
