The Brisbane South Recovery College was established by the staff at Metro South Addictions and Mental Health Service and people living in the Metro South Health region who identify as having a carer/ family role or lived or living experience of mental health issues and/ or substance use.
Vision:
‘To provide an inclusive learning space, empowering connection with community, wellbeing, and new understanding of recovery, resilience, hope and identity.’
Mission:
‘To enable learning and knowledge sharing on mental health and wellbeing for people to realise their strengths and be empowered to live their best life.’
Recovery Colleges have been in existence since 2000, examples are located in the U.S, U.K, New Zealand and Australia.
All Recovery Colleges are co-developed, co-designed, co-facilitated, meaning that both health professionals and people or carer of a person with lived or living experience of mental health and/or substance use were involved in creating the college and its courses.
Development of The Brisbane South Recovery College commenced in 2020.
We will continue to review the college processes and courses to bring you the best possible learning experience. At the end of your course you will be invited to provide feedback of your experience. We also welcome feedback at any time via email.
Metro South Addictions and Mental Health Service are excited to welcome partnerships in the future. We plan to grow our opportunities so we can offer more courses in more locations.
