Mental Health Lounge (completed)

A new Mental Health Lounge has been added to Logan Hospital’s Emergency Department, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for our patients and their families.

The unit was constructed within the existing courtyard space of the Emergency Department, and includes a patient lounge, consult rooms, staff station and access to an outside area.

This space provides a safe and quiet area for our mental health patients to be triaged and treated, while being in close proximity to the emergency department to ensure a cohesive response to individual patient needs.

Benefits

  • Dedicated space for patients experiencing mental health conditions
  • Provides rapid access to early diagnosis, intervention and referral for patients
  • Creates an environment where patients experiencing mental health conditions don’t need to transition through the busy emergency department.

Timelines

  • July-September 2019: Procurement and design
  • October 2019: Construction started
  • March 2020: Opened
