Health alert: Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

Hospital expansion and refurbishment

Planning, design and consultation is underway for the major expansion and refurbishment of Logan Hospital. This expansion will enhance our clinical services and improve facilities for patients, visitors and staff.

What we're planning

The project includes:

  • an additional 206 beds and treatment spaces
  • a vertical expansion of Building 3 (emergency department building), delivering four new floors
  • building-in of the ground floor of Building 3
  • refurbishment of clinical, clinical support and operational service support areas in the other existing hospital buildings.

The expansion will enable us to provide a range of new and expanded healthcare services for the Logan community in one of fastest growing regions in the state.

Benefits

The expansion project will increase the capacity of the hospital, to meet current and future demand for healthcare services in one of the fastest growing regions in the state.

It will increase healthcare services available in Logan, which means the local community can be treated nearer to their home.

The new and refurbished facilities will be designed to provide a contemporary, comfortable environment for our patients and visitors and the new inpatient wards will consist of both single and double rooms with ensuites.

What's happening now

We have appointed a design team including architects, engineers and quantity surveyors. This team is working closely with clinicians and stakeholders to complete a detailed design of the new facilities, ready for construction.
