Princess Alexandra Hospital intern recruitment

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) partners with the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) to offer 95 intern positions each year. In addition, interns are/may be seconded on rotation to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital and Redland Hospital.

The PAH is the tertiary referral centre for Metro South Health. Located 4km from the CBD, it is nationally recognised for its expertise in most specialties and is home to many state-wide services.

Our facilities include:

  • leading centre for health care teaching and research
  • highly qualified nursing and allied health staff
  • online access for all clinical needs and email access for all junior medical staff
  • extensive academic library
  • easy access to South-East Freeway and extensive public transport
  • well-equipped gym on-site with discounted rates
  • active Junior Doctor Society
  • doctors' common room with locker facilities
  • undercover parking
  • large shopping complex directly opposite
  • child care centre and parenting facilities
  • chapel and prayer room
  • Translational Research Institute on site
  • staff cafeteria and several onsite options for espresso coffee.

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is located at Coopers Plains, 15 minutes south of PAH and is a medium metropolitan adult facility with approximately 180-200 inpatient beds providing a range of inpatient and outpatient services and a 24-hour emergency department that attends to just under 60,000 patients per annum. A state-of-the-art endoscopy unit opened in 2013—Australia’s most advanced diagnostic facility with the capacity to manage more than 5000 patients a year.

With an excellent Senior to Intern ratio, you will be well supported and benefit from direct consultant experience and education. Our culture is one of community and patient-centred care. As QEII is accredited for training in the three core terms along with highly sought after electives, you can rotate to QEII for any number of terms or even complete your entire internship at the facility. Applicants selecting two or more rotations to QEII will be given preference.
