A new Integrated Health Care Centre

The new Wynnum-Manly Community Health Centre, Gundu Pa, provides a significant boost to local health services and access to round-the-clock health care. The centre delivers what the community asked for – health services retained and expanded in the local area.

24-hour acute primary care

The 24-hour Primary Care Centre is your health care back up when you have a minor injury or illness and you cannot get an appointment with your regular doctor – for example, in the night if there is no after-hours service.

Allied Health

The Allied Health services at Wynnum-Manly Community Health Centre will make use of the centre’s purpose-built gyms and well equipped consulting and therapy rooms.

The services available are:

  • Physiotherapy (including Musculoskeletal and Lymphoedema clinics)
  • Speech Pathology

Addiction and Mental Health

The wide range of Addiction and Mental Health services available to people in Wynnum and Manly will continue to be offered by experienced health professionals based in the Bayside area.

The services are:

  • Alcohol and Drug Services
  • Child and Youth Therapy
  • Mood Clinic
  • Psychosis Therapy
  • Rehabilitation

BreastScreen Queensland

The BreastScreen Queensland service uses the latest screening technology and is designed to fit around your busy family life.

The expanded BreastScreen Queensland service offers the following benefits:

  • Family-friendly extended opening hours, including out of hours, to make to booking an appointment easier.
  • A new examination room with screening conducted by highly skilled female health professionals.
  • A welcoming, modern, spacious waiting room.

Child Development Services

Wynnum-Manly Community Health Centre is well equipped to look after the health and wellbeing of your children, with an extensive range of health services run by Children's Health Queensland (CHQ):

  • Physiotherapy (delivered in a purpose-built gym)
  • Social Work
  • Speech Pathology
  • Dietitian Clinic
  • Psychologist Clinic

Chronic Disease Services

A purpose-built rehabilitation gym and well-equipped consulting rooms allow us to provide an extensive range of Chronic Disease services, including several that are new to the local area:

Oral Health (Dental Clinic)

The Dental Clinic provides high quality dental care for both adults and children. The expanded service offers a range of new benefits:

  • Double the number of dental chairs (increased from three to six) so we can offer you more appointments.
  • In the near future, we aim to offer expanded opening hours, to make booking appointments more convenient.
  • New X-ray equipment
  • A spacious, relaxing waiting room with views into landscaped gardens, and a state-of-the-art treatment room

Specialist Outpatient Clinics

A range of Specialist Outpatient Clinics - all new to the local area - are now available. This means the services are now easier to access and closer to home for local people.

Aims & Goals: 

1. To provide and centralise modern health care and service delivery for the Wynnum-Manly community. 2. Provide ambulatory care services including oral health, BreastScreen, mental health, allied health services and new specialist outpatient clinics.

The new Wynnum-Manly Community Health Centre, Gundu Pa has opened to the public on 27/10/2017 ushering in a new era for health care in the local community. The state-of-the-art health centre retains existing health services in the local community alongside offering a range of new and expanded services, including a 24-hour Primary Care Centre for treating minor injuries and illnesses. Other services include Oral Health (Dental Clinic), BreastScreen Queensland, Addiction and Mental Health, Allied Health, Child Development Services, Chronic Disease Services and a range of new Specialist Outpatient Clinics. The services are delivered by experienced Metro South Health clinicians in a modern, welcoming environment surrounded by landscaped gardens with native Australian trees. The centre is easily accessible by bus and has free parking for patients. The Primary Care Centre and all outpatient services previously offered at Wynnum Health Service on Whites Road, Lota have now transferred to the new Wynnum-Manly Community Health Centre, Gundu Pa. The name Gundu Pa is a combination of two words in the local Jandai language meaning ‘medicine stones place’ and was suggested by Winnam Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation.
