Project Status:

This project will trial body worn cameras on security guards at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.  These cameras are currently on the market and already being utilised by the Queensland Police Service and in some other health services.  For the duration of the trial, all security workers will wear the camera at each of the three daily shifts with the purpose of capturing evidence.  At the end of each shift, security guards will dock their camera and the images will be downloaded and stored securely.

Aims & Goals:

Reduce the number of security physical interventions. Reduce the proportion of requests for assistance that escalate to physical interventions. Reduce the number of complaints against security guards.

After a successful trial at Princess Alexandra Hospital, body worn cameras for Metro South security staff have been implemented at Logan and Redland Hospitals.
