AH-TRIP (Allied Health - Translating Research Into Practice)

Project Status:

Originally developed and successfully piloted in the PAH Nutrition and Dietetics department, My Translation Rules used web-based / case study learning, and access to expert content / mentoring via telehealth to support the translation of research findings into healthcare settings.

The initiative provided Dietetic staff with improved skills and confidence to translate research and evidence into practice, resulting in measurable benefits to clinical practice within the service. The success of the pilot initiative has seen the expansions of AH-TRIP to a multidisciplinary/multi-professional education program, with the aim of contributing materials relating to all Allied Health disciplines across Metro South Health sites.

Aims & Goals:
  • Develop and expand web-based education content and discipline-specific case studies
  • Co-ordinate telehealth expert/mentor panels for MSH sites to access during the AH-TRIP program
  • Co-ordinate "train-the-trainer" type clinical champions at each site to facilitate sustainability of the professional development program
  • Co-ordinate the annual showcase event to recognise clinical examples of research translation, held at the Translational Research Institute Australia.

The project working group have developed a comprehensive evaluation plan to monitor the successes and uptake of the implemented web-based resources, and the telemonitoring panel.
