**“Innovation is the application of creativity or problem solving that results in a widely adopted strategy, product, or service that meets a need in a new or different way. Innovations are about improvement in quality, cost effectiveness, or efficiency” (Kayla et al 2015, 1674). The innovation cannot be found in literature and can be a very simple idea that improves the way we work and/or have a positive impact on patients.

  • Nurse/s of any level working within any unit or team outlined within the PAH Organisational Structure (PDF, 655.11 KB)
  • Joint Appointments, Visiting Scholars, Research Fellows that meet the aims outlined above and included nursing clinicians at the PAH as part of the innovation.
  • Nurse/s must have assumed a leadership role within the team and/or had a significant contribution in the achievement of outcomes.

Decision making governance process

Nominations will be judged by a panel that consists of nursing executive; interprofessional colleague; and a consumer representative from the PAH. Each member will have equal voting rights, although in the event of a conflict of interest (i.e. nominee is from respective work unit) these rights will be rescinded. The panel will utilise a Likert scale from ‘Strongly Agree that Applicant Meets Criteria to Strongly Disagree that Applicant Meets Criteria’ to assist in determining the top 5 nominations and recommend a winner of the award. The top 3 nominations and recommended winner will be tabled at the Nursing Director/Assistant Director of Nursing (ND/ADON) Committee Meeting. The ND/ADON committee will endorse the final decision. The top 3 teams will be notified and invited to the award presentation for the announcement of the award winner.
