Haematology

at Princess Alexandra Hospital

Haematology services are provided at Princess Alexandra Hospital with an outreach clinic at Logan Hospital.

Our Haematology Department provides specialist care for all types of blood diseases, including cancers of the blood, bone marrow or lymph nodes. This may include leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. There is also a special interest in platelet disorders, such as immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).

The team also provides autologous stem cell transplants. These are "self" transplants where a person's own stem cells are collected in advance and returned at a later stage, replace damaged cells as a result of high doses of chemotherapy.
