General Medicine

at Princess Alexandra Hospital

General Medicine involves the assessment and management of patients with complex or undifferentiated medical problems. Our specialist doctors often work with one or more sub-specialty teams to diagnose and manage medical problems.

Princess Alexandra Hospital has three dedicated medical wards, as well as a Medical Assessment and Planning Unit for rapid assessment of people with acute medical conditions who come to the emergency department.

Our specialty areas include:

  • the management of strokes through our Acute Stroke Unit
  • clinical epidemiology and health services research
  • clinical pharmacology.
