NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians needs to be based on justice, equity, and the proper recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights.

NAIDOC Week is held in the first full week of July – Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 July 2023.

This year’s theme, For Our Elders, pay homage to the important role our Elders have played, and continue to play accross every generation, as well as the prominent place they hold in our communities and families.

Metro South Health is hosting NAIDOC week events at its hospitals across the week.
