NAIDOC Week 2022

3 July 2022 to 10 July 2022

NAIDOC Week banner

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians needs to be based on justice, equity, and the proper recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights.

NAIDOC Week is held in the first full week of July – Sunday 3 to Sunday 10 July 2022.

This year’s theme, Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up, asks us all to speak up for systemic change and keep rallying around our mob, our Elders and our communities. Whether it’s seeking proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism, we must do it together.

Metro South Health is hosting NAIDOC week events at its hospitals across the week.
