Dr Jacki Liddle

Dr Jacki Liddle is a Conjoint Research Fellow between the University of Queensland (School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences) and the Department of Occupational Therapy at Princess Alexandra Hospital. She is an occupational therapist and researcher with a focus on quality of life, participation and life transitions. Jacki’s work has a focus on participatory methods, partnering with people with lived experience and innovative approaches to outcome measurement and intervention design. Her PhD research focused on the experience of stopping driving, and led to the development of an intervention to support people to stay engaged when they stop driving. This has been used to support older people, people living with dementia, and people after traumatic injury.

She has been involved in codesigning technologies with people living with dementia and older people. She has also worked with multidisciplinary teams to develop approaches to remotely monitor health at home (for example, for people with Parkinson’s disease) and to explore the impact of interventions on community outcomes (for example, deep brain stimulation).

Jacki supports research and researchers in the Occupational Therapy department with a focus on research that supports the improvement of outcomes for patients at the hospital. She is actively involved in Occupational Therapy Australia, the Australian Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Association, The Australian Association of Gerontology and the Environment Design Special Interest Group of Dementia Alliance International. She supervises PhD, Masters and Honours students across a variety of disciplines.
