Dermatology

Princess Alexandra Hospital's dermatology department provides clinical care for adults with skin conditions including psoriasis, skin cancer and pigmented skin lesions.

We use a number of non-invasive imaging techniques such as videodermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM). We also provide dermatological consultations for people with melanoma in conjunction with the Oncology Department.

We are active in many clinical trials and research projects, and we are leaders in teledermatology—the remote delivery of dermatology specialist advice using telecommunications technology. Since 2012 we have incorporated teledermatology into our standard clinical practice, with referrals from all over the state enabling people in rural areas to access our expert dermatology specialists.
