Safe in our care

At Metro South Health, we’ve taken extra steps to ensure you are Safe in our Care.

Safe booking

  • We’re screening everyone who has an appointment to ensure patients are treated in the safest location for all, whether it’s at home or at hospital, to stop the spread of germs. 
  • You may be offered a phone or video appointment.

Safe waiting rooms

  • There are fewer people in our waiting rooms.
  • Chairs are further apart for physical distancing. 
  • Surfaces are cleaned more often. 
  • Hand sanitiser is available.

Safe spaces

  • Our common and food areas are cleaned regularly. 
  • We have removed all reading material to keep you safe.

Safe appointments

  • Our staff will wash their hands when checking you in, during your appointment and between patients. 
  • Our exam rooms are cleaned between every patient.​

How you can help keep everyone in our community safe

  • Do not visit a patient at the hospital if you are feeling unwell.
  • Observe the special visitor restrictions for each hospital or ward.
  • While at the hospital, maintain a 1.5m distance from others.
  • Wash your hands upon entry and exit of each area of the hospital.
  • Let us know if you would like to use Telehealth for your next appointment.

Do you need this information in another language?

  • We can provide a free interpreter when you are in hospital.
  • Accredited interpreters are free of charge if English is not your first language, or if you use sign language.
  • To request an interpreter, please ask any of the staff in your ward.
