Casuarina Lodge is comprised of two inpatient units, Jasmine and Wisteria, at Wynnum West.
Jasmine Unit is a 20 bed facility that provides a mix of residential and rehabilitation services to younger adults in working age range who have sustained an acquired brain injury.
Aside from its residential services, Jasmine Unit provides assessment and management for people who have sustained a severe acquired brain injury and require slow stream rehabilitation over a longer period than is able to be offered through the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit.
Wisteria Unit provides collaborative treatment and rehabilitation services for consumers aged 18 years and older who require 24 hour, 7 day a week, sub-acute inpatient care whose needs cannot be met in a less restrictive model and whose needs can be safely met with the service framework.
The majority of consumers will be successfully supported to reintegrate into their community over a period of weeks to months. Some may also move to a Community Care Unit for further rehabilitation.
Wisteria is an authorised mental health service as defined under the Mental Health Act 2016. Consumers may be involuntary basis (Involuntary Treatment order or Forensic Order) but their risks status must be low and manageable with the staffing structure.
Consumers pay a fee consistent with the provisions of the Health Services Regulation Act 2002 Part 4 sections 15-20. Long stay fees are consistent with accommodation cost associated with living in the community.
