Welcome to Metro South Hospital and Health Service. This page will help you prepare for your first day in your new role and know what to expect during your first month.
Before you start
If you’ve received a letter of offer, you’ll need to return a signed copy to us before you start. You can email your signed letter of offer to recruitment_metrosouth@health.qld.gov.au.
You won’t need to do this if you’re a casual employee.
On your first day
Your manager will welcome you and introduce you to your colleagues on your first day. They’ll help you get set up, tell you about your new role, and help you complete any training you need to do.
Forms and paperwork
We’ll ask you to fill in some forms on your first day. These help us know how to pay you and who to contact in an emergency.
You can use the myHR system to fill in or upload these forms online.
- Personal details – tell us your emergency contacts and banking details
- Tax details – upload your Tax file number declaration [PDF 223.36 KB]
- Superannuation details – upload the Choose your super fund form [PDF 582.09 KB].
If you’re not sure how to do this, read our guide to using myHR on your first day [PDF 273.48 KB].
It’s a good idea to do this as soon as you start so we can pay you on time.
Orientation and mandatory training
Your manager will show you around your workplace and run you through any mandatory training you need to complete in the next few weeks.
To find out how to do your training courses, read our guide to online orientation and corporate mandatory training [PDF 291.68 KB].
Get to know our values
Our values help us create a positive workplace culture. Learning what they are will help you to connect with our vision and purpose, feel safe and welcome to contribute, and perform at your best. They can help to guide the decisions you make, and shape how you behave and interact with workmates and patients.

During the first month
Getting paid
You should get your first pay 2 to 3 weeks after you start work – we pay all staff 2 weeks in arrears.
You can check your pay advice in myHR.
If you have questions about your pay, talk to your manager. You can also send us an enquiry using myHR or call our payroll team:
