Nurse Unit Manager Mahmoud "Mo" Nayfeh has joined the Bayside Health Service team and is busy preparing Redland Hospital’s new 24-bed Inpatient Unit for its opening in 2025. With a focus on recruitment and building a strong team, Mo is ensuring everything is in place for a smooth launch of the new ward.
The new Amity Ward will provide care for respiratory and acute medical patients.
Mo’s career has spanned several major Queensland hospitals, where he’s gained valuable experience in managing patient flow and setting up new wards.
“I’ve been fortunate to be part of teams that have opened new wards, and I’ve learned what it takes to build something special,” Mo said.
“The opportunity to create a unit from scratch is exciting.
"It’s about making a difference for patients and the staff who care for them.”
The new unit includes six single rooms, a bariatric suite, and a negative pressure room, all designed to improve care for patients with specialised needs.
“It’s a purpose-built ward that will make a big difference to our patients,” Mo said.
“But it’s not just about the building. It’s about building a team that works well together and makes the most of these facilities.”
Mo also sees plenty of opportunities for people joining the team, especially given Redland Hospital’s growth.
“This hospital is growing, and that means more opportunities for career development right here in the Redlands.
"You don’t have to travel far to build a great career in the South-East,” he said.
