It’s a perfect score for the QEII Nursing team, who have claimed a 100 per cent Pressure Injury (PI) report rate during the Comprehensive Care Audit this month.
A dedicated taskforce of 20 nurses and 11 student nurses led the charge on November 5, where their exemplary coordination skills were credited for the success.
“Along with CF Ann-Marie Bennett, CNC Surgical Services Anne Chiverall and CNC Stomal Therapy/Wound Management Louise Walker, I’ve coordinated the Audit for the last two years, and it just gets better and better every time,” said A/CNC Complex Discharges Janette Holme.
“The nursing team and the education team at QEII are just fantastic, and I’m always blown away by how dedicated they are. I have to credit the stomal therapy nurses too, because they had good plans in place for any pressure injuries that were found and had been reported.
“This is also a reflection of the teamwork demonstrated. Everyone understands how important the audits are, and are happy to commit to doing the relevant education packages to ensure a successful day.”
The biannual Comprehensive Care Audit aims to reduce the risk of patient harm during health care delivery by benchmarking key Standard 5 components including pressure injuries, falls, nutrition, cognitive impairment, unpredictable behaviour, and restrictive practices.
With over 202 QEII patients audited across the key components, Janette says it was the perfect opportunity for nurses and student nurses to benchmark their own learning and build their professional skillsets.
“It’s such a great learning day for our nurses, because they can get a lot out of it and use it in their practice going forward. A lot of nurses are actually asking if they can come back to do it again, which is great.”
Congratulations to the QEII nursing team on another successful audit!
