5 Pharmacy team members lined up showing off their moustaches for Movember
PharMocy Bros compete for the best mo'.

In a stache-tacular display of solidarity, five proud QEII PharMocy Bros have (literally) put their money where their mouth is – growing out their finest moustaches and raising vital funds for the Movember Foundation.

The men behind the mos are A/Assistant Director Pharmacy Peter Ford, Ward 4B Pharmacist Shamuel Rahman, 5A Clinical Pharmacist Stuart Pilot, 4A Clinical Pharmacist Jagdish Madhaparia, and Lead Assistant Alistair Bell.

Throughout the month, the Mo Bros battled it out for the best mo, levelling up the competition with weekly progress photos.

Soon enough, what started as friendly competition among bro-leagues turned into something much more meaningful, both to the team and to the cause behind them.

“We wanted to have a bonding activity with the blokes and promote men’s mental health, and so we all decided to see who could grow the best mo. It was a bit of a competition of the egos at first,” said Peter.

“It’s been a fun talking point in the team throughout the month of November. You come in every week and everyone’s talking about how much your moustache has grown. The single fellas are talking about how their dating lives will go downhill for the next month, and the married guys are talking about how they’ve reasoned with their partners to keep the moustache for a few more weeks.”

In a re-mo-kable race to the finish line, 4B Pharmacist Shamuel claimed the coveted title of Best Mo – taking home his winning whiskers, and bragging rights for the next year.

“Sam has a beautiful moustache. It was very full and thick, and he manicured it very well, so he was always a strong contender,” said Peter.

In the end, the true win was felt by the whole team, who together had raised $1,075, exceeding their 1K goal and boosting morale at the Pharmacy Department.

“We were really stoked to get over the $1,000 mark, and see that money go to good use,” he said.

“There were quite a few donors from our own department. We really appreciate all their support and the funny banter along the way. It’s really brought the whole team together.”

With the 2024 campaign behind them, Peter says the team look forward to a bigger and better Movember next year.

“I certainly look forward to doing it again next year, and I think it’s convinced a few of the other men who haven’t been involved yet, to get involved next year.”

Congratulations to the QEII PharMocy Bros on this fantastic win for men’s mental health.
