Julie Bundz

Julie Bundz has spent a lifetime looking after others, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I have been nursing for more than 25 years. As cliché as it sounds, helping others has been important in continuing along my career path.”

The Clinical Nurse Consultant works in the Queensland Spinal Cord Injury Service (QSCIS) based at Princess Alexandra Hospital and said it’s a privilege to work alongside so many experienced staff.

“I’m currently involved in the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury (BaSCI) project at Metro South, and one aspect of the project has been creating all-in-one online educational hub streamlining information for clinicians,” said Julie.

“It’s given me the opportunity to work on establishing the new QSCIS website from development, to writing content and working closely with the project team and website designers.

“I’m also a CNC for the project clinical team, working in an inreach role supporting clinicians across the state who are caring for people with newly acquired spinal cord injuries. It requires different networking opportunities compared to my outreach role in the community.”

At the heart of everything Julie does, is a deep care for her patients.

“I appreciate the impact having a spinal cord injury can be for people,” she said.

“I hopefully have a positive influence in being able to problem solve issues that can affect quality of life for people with spinal cord injury.”

That compassion, coupled with her impressive skillset has awarded Julie a Metro South Health International Nurses Day award for 2024.

“I would like to share my appreciation for all our clinicians who demonstrate resilience and determination in complex, dynamic and busy clinical environments.

“It certainly is an honour working alongside our remarkable team,” she said.

We think they’d say the same about you Julie! Congratulations on this fantastic achievement.
