There’s a festive feel inside PA Hospital’s kitchen as the dedicated team prepares to serve up three carefully curated courses to help give patients a taste of normality on 25 December.

“Christmas is a special day for us here at the PA,” said Acting Manager of Patient and Retail Food Services Jason.

“We do a traditional hot breakfast which involves having some lovely fresh bacon, scrambled eggs, tomato, and cheese.

“Our lunch menu is ham and turkey, which we do with traditional roast vegetables. For dinner we’re going to be doing baked fish with veggies.”

And of course, no Christmas menu is complete without a Christmas pudding!

The team will serve up around 3,000 meals and will have around 70 food services staff working on the big day. They say it’s their way of adding a sprinkle of extra holiday magic across Metro South.

“I think it’s always difficult for patients being in hospital over Christmas so the team really enjoy the fact they can help our patients out,” said Jason.

“Our team works very hard and I’m very proud of our team. Without one of them, we can’t do our job so they’re all very important in what we do.”

The festive meals will also be available for all PAH staff working on Christmas Day to ensure no one misses out.

A huge thank you to our fabulous teams in Food Services and Nutrition and Dietetics for going the extra mile, every day!
