Rakim Rahman, Courtney Weatherall and Emily Weissenberger are among 42 medical interns ready to make their mark in healthcare.

The junior doctors joined our diverse team earlier this month and are no strangers to life in Logan, with all three previously attending local high school John Paul College.

The trio, along with the other interns, will spend the year teaming up with senior medical mentors to care for patients in general and emergency medicine, surgery and mental health.

With her sights set on a career in anaesthetics, Dr Emily Weissenberger said she was most looking forward to delving into the various specialities within Logan Hospital.

For Dr Courtney Weatherall, embarking on her first rotation in respiratory, the excitement lies in translating seven years of theoretical knowledge into real-world practice.

Both young doctors said an internship with Logan Hospital was their first choice, and that they were keen to start making a positive impact in their local community.

Logan and Beaudesert Health Service Director of Medical Services, Dr Dale Seierup said medical graduates continued to express significant interest in wanting to complete their internships at Logan Hospital.

“We regularly receive feedback from our doctors-in-training about the quality of support provided and the wide range of clinical experience available here at Logan.

“Over the coming year, the interns will embark on speciality rotations, gaining invaluable experience in different medical fields," he said. "This hands-on approach enables them to make informed decisions about their future specialty paths, setting the stage for successful careers in medicine.”

We wish all our interns the best of luck for the year ahead.
