A modern, multi-story hospital building with a parking lot and several cars in front, under a partly cloudy sky.

QEII Hospital is set to receive a new $127.44 million multi-level car park to boost parking capacity ahead of the $465 million QEII Hospital Expansion.

The Queensland Government-funded investment will deliver 1379 car parks, reducing the stress of searching for a car park for patients, visitors and staff.

Accessibility and safety are key priorities for the car park which will feature safe walking routes, lighting, CCTV and duress points connected to hospital security.

It will also include end-of-trip facilities and bicycle parking to support active transport options.

Metro South Health Chief Executive, Noelle Cridland said the new car park is amazing news for the QEII campus which will see an increase in demand alongside the growth in the catchment over the next decade.

“Metro South Health cares for one of Queensland’s fastest growing regions, which means demand on our healthcare services continues to grow.

“The multi-level car park is also a critical enabler for our major expansion which will deliver a new building and 112 beds, and that’s why we will be delivering it ahead of the expansion opening,” Ms Cridland said.

“The multi-level car park is a solution for QEII Hospital to provide easier and more secure access for patients, visitors and staff.”

The car park will be constructed at the front of the campus along Kessels Road on a section of the existing car park.

To maintain access to the hospital during construction, offset car parking is currently being established on the hospital campus.

Construction will commence in late 2024 with expected completion in late 2026, ahead of the major $465 million QEII expansion which will deliver 112 more beds in a new five level clinical services building.
