Christmas came early for the Medical Imaging team this week with the delivery of new fluoroscopy and x-ray units.

The equipment is now being unwrapped and installed within the new Medical Imaging Department on Level 1, Building 3 – due to open in late October.

Built as part of the Logan Hospital Expansion Project, the additional Medical Imaging facility will operate alongside existing departments in Building 1 and the Emergency Department.

Assistant Director of Medical Imaging, Michael Neep, said the new equipment featured the very latest in digital imaging technology.

“The x-ray features a 3D camera to help our radiographers correctly position patients for the best results, while our new fluoroscopy will capture real-time moving images at optimal quality,” he said.

“For the first time Logan Hospital will have a permanent fluoroscopy suite that will allow us to expand the limited mobile service that is currently provided.”

The department will also include a new CT, ultrasound and MRI which are set to be delivered to the site in the coming weeks.
