Mary-Jane Travers was the first patient to receive care in the newly reopened Ward 2G.

Pictured with her nurse Rutendo Mazhawidza, Mary-Jane perched on one of 16 new beds in what is now a surgical ward.

Additional surgical beds opened in Ward 3A in November last year will now be located in Ward 2G.

Additional medical beds come online in Ward 2G this week to support growing demand across Metro South Health until commissioning of Ward 3A when it will open as a general medical ward in March to also respond to demand.

Executive Director Anne Coccetti said she wanted to thank everyone for supporting the changes and for ensuring a smooth and safe transition for patients and each other.
