Logan Hospital has made maternity care more accessible with the opening of a new, dedicated Maternity Access Road.

The new road leads directly to a drop-off zone outside the new-look Maternity Assessment Centre (MAC) and is available 24/7 for expectant parents.

MAC Midwifery Unit Manager Lisa Maher said her team was thrilled with the addition and knew it would be welcomed by the thousands of women who give birth at Logan Hospital each year.

"We are so pleased to offer expectant families direct access to our maternity services," she said.

"A dedicated access road and service entrance means we can connect our patients with the care they need faster, in a more accessible and more convenient way."

Women’s and Children’s Service Line Director April Gregory said the opening of the road marked the completion of Logan Hospital’s five-year Maternity Service Refurbishment Project.

"This mammoth project has expanded and refurbished our Maternity Inpatient Unit, Birthing Suites, Neonatal Services, Maternity Assessment Centre, and now, we’ve delivered a dedicated access road and main entry for the service," she said.

"A lot of hard work and thought went into creating beautiful, cohesive spaces that follow a patient’s pregnancy journey.

"Expectant parents enter via the Maternity Assessment Centre, which connects to the birth suites, which then lead to the Maternity Inpatient Unit.

"Everything flows beautifully, and we are so proud to share these spaces with our community."
