In a dazzling display of creativity and competitive spirit, staff across LBHS brought their A-game (and B-cups) to the recent Bling a Bra competition for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Hundreds of ordinary paper bras were turned into ‘uplifting’ works of art with craft cupboards raided of feathers, glitter, rhinestones, and even plastic figurines!
And if the creative designs weren’t enough to make onlookers smile, the clever team names certainly were.
From Hakuna Ma Tatas to Breast Intentions and Treasure Chests to name just a few, the judging panel’s ‘cups’ were overflowing with choices for first place.
Amongst the glitter and glam emerged so much creativity that the panel said naming just one winner was impossible, and instead awarded four first prize winners - judged on material usage, creativity, quality, complexity, skill, and that unbeatable WOW factor.
They also gave a special shout out to the Transit Care Hub who submitted more than 120 entries!
Director of Nursing and Midwifery Jacquie Smith, and member of the judging panel, said a heartfelt thank you to all who participated.
“The efforts staff went to were nothing short of spectacular and the LBHS spirit truly shone through in every creation,” she said.
Once the glitter settled on the Bling a Bra competition, it was time to announce the raffle results.
Jacquie said a total of $1500 had been raised for the McGrath Foundation, making an important impact during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
